“17 years ago I picked up my first camera.
I’ve been shooting stories ever since.”
It all started in my backyard, filming short films with friends after school, aspiring to be the next Peter Jackson. Some were bad, others were cringe, but one did well enough to get recognition in a local youth competition.
Years later I would graduate from Victoria University with a B.A. in Film & Media, and then South Seas Film & Television School with a Diploma in Drama Directing & Scriptwriting.
In the year that followed, I worked side-projects while attempting to get my feet into the highly competitive film industry. But instead of following the traditional route, I opted instead to pave my own way through freelancing, often collaborating with my good friend and future business partner James Forsyth (the two of us pictured below).
It was a difficult road, filled with many lulls and doubts as to whether I had made the right decision. But in time everything would fall into place.
I’ve been working professionally with videos for almost 10 years now.
Four and a half of those years were spent running the video agency FMF Creative, alongside James. Together we helped businesses across the world scale through organic content strategies on platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, Instagram & LinkedIn.
Millions of viewers, thousands of interactions, and consistent customers have come from the hundreds of videos we put together as a team (many still picking up views to this day).
This work would provide the chance to work remotely out of Southeast Asia, Spain and Portugal before Covid-19 hit, which saw us both relocate back to New Zealand.
There was no greater feeling than seeing a video really find its stride with an audience, and positively impact our clients’ lives.
here’s what they had to say:
I have experience across the entirety of the video production process:
- Establishing cost & time effective video strategies.
- Helping businesses capture video for themselves easily.
- Ideating videos based on VSEO principles (i.e. YouTube SEO).
- Filming a variety of videos: from in-person events, talking head videos, to lifestyle shoots.
- Editing a range of projects within a time-efficient time-frame.
Some of the clients I’ve worked in the past include:
Buy New Zealand Made, Living Big in a Tiny House, Kitman Labs, Mortgagehq, TrailLite, Harrisons NZ, Celo, The Mortgage Lab, Kiwiamericans, Ritual & Rise, Beauty and the Wind. Internationally, these include Dwell, Mindvalley, Jungle Ventures, Dot Financial, Hunter Galloway, Tripaneer, Evercoach, Hotel Bergkranc.
I am now focussing my efforts more towards filming.
I provide my own gear, and specialiZe in documentary-style video.
The past year has seen me work closely alongside BusinessNZ, specifically helping the Buy New Zealand Made team create miniature documentaries highlighting small but impactful businesses across New Zealand.
This work has rejuvenated my love of telling stories through video, and throughout 2023 I have been doubling down on these efforts.
If you’re looking for someone passionate about their craft to help make your video, then I’m your guy.
I'd love to see how I can best help your video needs.
Book a time to talk with me in the link below and I’ll give you 15 minutes to share what you’re looking to get out of video. I’ll give you any tips, advice or knowledge you might need to go away confident.
And if you’re looking for that extra bit of assistance with filming, editing or overall marketing, then we can see if we’re a fit and go from there.
